I just finished reading the first book in Jim Butcher’s Codex Alera, Furies of Calderon. It’s more violent than I want to review on my site (half the book involves a battle), but I enjoyed the characters and the developing story. I recommend it for mature YA and transition to adult. My son has reviewed it for Fantasy Folder.
