Fuse #8 on School Library Journal has administered a poll of The Top 100 Picture Books of All Time. Readers sent their lists of Top 10, and Fuse #8 compiled a list. Instead of the standard list, reviews of each are being displayed a few at a time, with examples of the illustration. Also, commentary on the project at hand. It promises to be a great selection of books.

Just updated the links yesterday. Enjoying the list, though some of the choices aren’t even appealing to me. They were actually voted onto the list, some of them above my top choices. Admittedly, some of my top choices are newer and not necessarily anything resembling a standard. But man, some of the standards seem bleh to me. I didn’t send a list personally, because I found out too late. Just comparing favorites.
Will want to check out some of the unfamiliars.
It’s a romp down memory lane, but what I like the most is the comments along the way. For ex. the idea of using a room lined with picture books to determine a patient’s mental state.

I’ve noticed that the first 3 links are not going to the appropriate pages. I suspect it may be a problem on Fuse 8’s end, because I went through again and tried to change the links. It didn’t help.
So, if you want to see the posts for #100-#81 on Fuse 8, you’ll need to hit the next button at the bottom of the page a few times. Or try a Google search for Fuse #8 Top 100 Picture Books.
